Canon has announced 3 new lenses today, one of them is the Canon RF-S 10-18mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM.
Finally there is an ultra-wide RF-S lens designed specifically for APS-C cameras. With the field of view equivalent to 16-29mm on a full frame camera, this makes it your only compact choice for landscape, architecture and vlogging.
Canon RF-S 10-18mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM Specifications:
- 5.3 ounces (150g) and 1.8″ long (45mm)
- Collapsible design (soft click to unlock)
- 49mm filter diameter
- STM AF motor
- 4 stops Image Stabilization
- 8.6cm closest focusing distance (14cm with auto focus)
- 7 diaphragm blades
- Equivalent to 16-29mm on FF
The image quality is even better than the EF-S 10-18mm, which was already optically great. It’s a no-brainer type of lens due to its size and performance. It’s actually even smaller than Sigma’s recently announced 10-18mm f/2.8, although their huge aperture difference is the main reason.

The RF-S 10-18mm features a 4-stop Image Stabilization that will work up to 6 stops when paired with a stabilized body. Pair that with minimal focus breathing and a quiet STM motor, this affordable lens is ideal for recording high quality videos.
Release Date & Price
The Canon RF-S 10-18mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM will be available in early December 2023 for $329.
