Now that the A6700 and A7c versions have been announced, the next most likely upgrade will be the Sony A9 III.
SAR posted that Sony registered a new camera in early September, which means we are 3-4 months away from an official release. The A7C and A7R have just started shipping out, so I assume the spotlight will be on these two until at least early December.
While the A7s III is 3 years old, it’s more likely that we will get the A9 first.
Rumored A9 III specifications:
- 44MP stacked sensor
- 8K at 60p (No crop)
- 4K at 120p
- 26 frames per second
Seeing what the A7c series got, we can expect the image stabilization to work up to 8 stops, and of course get the latest AI chip that recognizes a human from almost any angle.
The release date of Sony A9 III is most likely to be either in December 2023 or January 2024. It has been more than 4 years since the release of A9 II.
